I'd rather not use pedals for my core sound as I love the amp sound but if that's what it needs then so be it. My other option is to run the amp a lot cleaner and use pedals to get close to the amps drive sound and then use the eq last to boost the volume as the preamp won't be distorting as much.

There was evidence of them all overheating. My question is how I switch from clean to overdrive in the middle of a song, since its a tube. I love the overdriven sound like Brian may. C82 is probably filtering very very high frequencies to ground. I did these to my Vox AC30CCH (head) and via a 2X12' cab and it is absolutely incredible. Increase to 220pF for an even brighter normal channel (probably too bright on a combo format). I'm assuming (not tried it yet) if I use the eq into the front end but just knock the gain down on the pedal, it'll make the core sound quieter but I'll lose a bit of drive from the amp as its a weaker signal going in? This one came in with some arcing and microphonics in one of the output valves. Hey reddit Sorry for being an idiot but I'm new to tube amps. Remove C8 for darker tone at normal channel. My question is how can I take the tone I like and make it louder for soloing in a band situation. Thought I'd stick an eq in the fx loop as a boost as that's worked before in other amps but the loop has a -10db send but no option to not use the -10db function so it doesn't really up the volume like I thought it would I've got the creamback loaded version and I love the sound of the top boost channel cranked, only problem is, it obviously won't go louder when the gain is wound up, just compresses and adds gain when I use a boost pedal of any kind.I expected this, nothing new!
